Testimonials

Julian Robinson

Administrator, Munster Med-In

Muncie, Indiana

"Im thankful we had insurance that put us in a position for the future. Had we not had that, we would have not have survived the flood. That’s the truth. We might not have had the type of coverages we did had it not been for Spiris, who developed and proposed those coverages."

Dennis Wiley

Chief Financial Officer, Luther Care Services

Des Moines, Iowa

"Throughout the process, Dave Hutchison at Spiris impressed me as someone who wanted to do good work, not just sell me a policy. When his quotes came through, everything was in good order and his pricing was significantly less than anyone else. Over the years, Dave has always maintained the hard working attitude that impressed me so many years ago."

Golden Years Homestead Brings 'Neighborhood' Care to Fort Wayne

HOMELIKE, INNOVATIVE SKILLED NURSING FACILITY OPENING SOON

From lavishly landscaped gardens to a contemporary, homelike interior, Golden Years Homestead skilled nursing facility at 3136 Goeglein Road brings a whole new level of comfort and care to Fort Wayne, Ind. Finishing touches on the 100,000-square-foot, single-story building are now underway. The first residents are set to move in on September 30.

The new building replaces the current skilled nursing facility on the adjacent 24-acre campus, which also includes the Villa Apartments, offering independent living, and the three-story High-Rise Building Apartments, assisted living accommodations.

Peaceful, Quiet Setting

Outside the new skilled nursing center, plantings include 75 flowering pear trees in the front, a perimeter of flowering crab apple and other decorative trees, and numerous garden spaces filled with shrubs and perennials.

"It's very beautiful," says President Tom Garman, who brought his own decades of landscaping experience to the project.

Private, Carpeted Rooms

Inside, each resident will have a private, carpeted room with shower and bath, and live in a neighborhood cluster with a dozen other people. "It's very family oriented," Garman says, with each neighborhood having its own dining room, lounge with a fireplace and garden courtyard.

"The interior is very unique, with different shaped hallways, rather than one long hallway," he says. "And we're using all different colors—pastels, burgundies, purples—with furnishings complementing the colors in each area."

The new facility also has numerous activity areas, two beauty and barber shops and two private dining rooms for special functions. It replaces a skilled nursing center on the same property that will be demolished.

"Right now, we are the only facility in Fort Wayne that is 100-percent occupied. And we have a waiting list," Garman says. "About 75 percent of our residents are on Medicaid. In the new building, all units are certified for both Medicaid and Medicare."

Founded in 1971, Golden Years Homestead is a nonprofit corporation sponsored by independent Christian churches and Churches of Christ.

Likes Personal Service Spiris Provides

Golden Years Homestead has been relying on Spiris for its insurance needs for several years. "I get reasonable pricing and very prompt service," Garman says. "They have a good product and do thorough research with companies before they provide us with a proposal. Also, we get very personalized service from Spiris and especially Dave Hutchison."
